One emerging agribusiness problem which Goldshield technology can address is microbial contamination and cross-contamination, which have become a greater concern after the recent outbreaks of avian influenza. The most virulent strain, H5N1, has been identified by the World Health Organization and the CDC as the world’s number one health threat. NBS is developing a hybrid disinfectant product which is being tested for efficacy against this dangerous strain, as well as salmonella and E. coli.
Goldshield antimicrobial can be applied to a wide variety of interior and exterior porous and non-porous surfaces and substrates used throughout the breeding and growing of animal and plant life, including metals, rubber, synthetic materials, glass, vehicular components, cold storage freezers and refrigerators, cellulose filters and others. In addition, it can used in the decontamination of early-stage infestation and mitigation of viral and microbial outbreaks.
